Dr. Desai worked in industry (Abbott/AbbVie, Baxter) before medical school which is where he came to appreciate the drug development process. His passion is accelerating the pace at which novel therapeutics get to cancer patients who have otherwise exhausted the standard of care. This includes learning preclinical drug development & especially translating science through phase 1 trials. His clinical focus is in GU malignancies. He is married (his wife is a Pediatrics Attending at the University of Chicago) with 2 kids aged 3 and 5. He loves spending time with his family as well as playing squash early in the mornings.
